Welcome

India Design Council along with British Council in India takes great pleasure in inviting you to the first workshop of India – UK Design Education Workshop Series. The topic of deliberation for the first workshop is “Future of Design Education”.

For the first workshop we would joined by leading academics from well known universities from UK under the leadership of Anne Boddington, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, University of Brighton and Trustee, Design Council UK.

We invite design faculty from all across the country along with design professionals interested in design education, to this immersive design dialogue. This two-day intensive program is the beginning of a journey towards collaborative brainstorming to shape design education.

Background

The Future of Design Education in India Report was published recently on November 08, 2016 at the hands of Mr. Jo Johnson, UK Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation. British Council in India and the India Design Council prepared the report.

The report envisages a strategic relationship between the India and UK Design Education sector to advance and lead the design pedagogy in the context of unfolding future. The need for better design educators is an imperative for both the countries and as such has been identified as a key opportunity area to work on.
